There was a fella just like him in the Bog Bodies exhibition at the National Museum. Ginger he was, did you see him?

No! Mainly because I don't want to give twenty euro to a company that buys unclaimed bodies from a country with a dubious human rights record and displays them for massive profit. Read this: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opinion/2009/0123/1232474674971.html

aye, what Fiona said. i'd been looking forward to it until i heard that.

though i suppose one could have the same reservations about the bog bodies.

Conan, I saw photos of him! Remarkable how well preserved he was.

Fiona, there's really nothing in that article that gives me pause.
There has been no proof provided that the bodies used originated from prison camps or through illegal channels, so until there is evidence to suggest otherwise, I will go along. If it is proven otherwise I will give it a very wide berth.

Rosie, they could indeed, or Padre Pio being dug up and put on display.

In fairness to Fiona's comment, I would imagine that it would be difficult to find proof that the bodies are those of torture victims. It's not like the Chinese authorities would help anyone wanting to go down that investigative path. The truth is that a lot of people go missing in China, are kidnapped by government agents and never seen again - it's a plausible argument and if they can't provide transparent evidence that the bodies were not donated by willing donors and their families then I'd be inclined to smell a rat.

i dunno. "After my death I will do more. My real mission will begin after my death" said Pio. so maybe the RCs reckoned they had his consent.

but i couldn't justify supporting an enterprise that exhibits unclaimed bodies for commercial gain.

I know Orlaith, I'm hopefully not being dismissive, I've just yet to see any real evidence that would sway me to not go. I think thing of this nature are utterly fascinating, but if there was proof of illegal body usage I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Aside from the human rights violations that are likely behind it, it just seems creepy to me.

It also puts me in mind of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" when they tour the morgue and the teacher asks Spiccoli "are you in my class?"
He responds "I am today!"

I don't mind creepy I must say. I'm not in the least bit squeamish. But talk of human rights violations does bother me and I think I will do a bit more research myself before handing over my much loved spondoolocks.
I have never seen FTAR.

This exhibtion has been going around for a while now:
http://www.bodyworlds.com/en.html

I saw it in Manchester around Easter last year, and it's been here in Brussels now for the past few months.

It's utterly fascinating.

And the bodies have been donated.

I think the burden of proof should be on those making money from the bodies, rather than the other way around. It shouldn't be too much to ask that at least you show consent from those used. I might add I have absolutely no squeamishness about this and am gutted to miss it, as I'm really interested and have no problem looking at bodies with their skins ripped off, but the human rights issue is too big to ignore. For me, at least. Not for the 11 million who've seen the exhibit. Also worth looking at a the New York Times on this, as they actually sent a reporter to Dalian, China, where a huge industry has sprung up around the body business. Finally (phew, long comment), but the Bodyworks exhibition mentioned by AM in Brussels is run by Van Hagens, and now requires consent. This after he found two of the bodies he used had died of gunshot wounds to the head.

I had another look at some of the news stories attached Fiona, as much as I'd be interested, I can't bring myself to go now.

Good for you, fatmammycat. I have to say, I'm a bit gutted myself as I really, really wanted to se eit before I read up on it all. Sigh. Am personally convinced I'd look better without my skin, so perhaps will donate my own fine specimen for future Von Hagens. . .

Step Three Coat your hair Comb your hair into small sections.
As well as in this article I am going to explain why and how to use it to cultivate hair - According to dermatologist Marianne ODonoghue its the most proven supplement for growing
a prolonged mane. It only leaves a lustrous sheath on
the hair and gives it a beautiful look rather and the greasy effect that is
left by the usual hair oils. 1 The oil spill threatens the lives of birds, sea otters, and more than 400 other species.
These resources side by side also promote healthy hair growth and hair growth which are preferable to
other medications.

Be sure that the oil doesnt get direct contact to your own hair scalp.
Eating white sesame seeds in the morning, take alfalfa juice mixed with carrot juice
and lettuce or third cup of aloe vera juice every day
are very good natural remedies. It only leaves a lustrous
sheath on the hair and gives it a beautiful look rather and the greasy effect that is left by the usual hair oils.

However, sometimes the sebaceous gland generates too
much oil, which is noticeable as oily hair. Low self-esteem, hair fall,
itching in scalp and facial skin infections
are common side effects due to dandruff problems.

There are a few types, mainly fine, regular, or rough. Before you apply heated gadgets onto your
hair, protect your hair with heat protectant sprays and also serums.
You repeat the exact same procedure maybe once or twice every
week. This is why many salon stylists always recommend a hot
oil treatment for hair. Exactly what the oil does is clean and exfoliate
your hair follicles, help make your bloodstream circulate better all around your head and in
return boosts the process involving hair growth and acts as
being a supercharger for making your hair get bigger.
