Popeye.


Or when good weights go very bad.
As most of you are bored rigid hearing, weights, me likey. Today I"m going to be hitting the bench, performing some painful back extensions (me no likey so much) some hideous pull ups and quite possibly-if I have any strength left in my right little finger- some dips, which will kill me in a spectacular fashion making the drive back from the gym a teeth clenching journey of ouch.
I won't be doing any running today as I am doing the Adidas five mile in the park tomorrow at 10-am, this also mean I have had to postpone my date with mister Rum tonight. But no matter, Rum was upset but he's a fine chap and he'll see me tomorrow no doubt.
Anyhoo, as much as I like doing weights and so on, there are some folk who should really ask themselves why oh why they do it? I do it to make my body stronger, to burn fat-even when resting, muscles need energy to maintain- to avoid osteoporosis later in life and you know, to keep healthy and shit.
Some people clearly do it to look like cartoon characters.

Right I’m off on my protest, we'll probably be surrounded by a gang of spotty pikies with baseball caps draped in gold jewellery. Good luck tomorrow neighbour hope the weather holds off and you get get a crowd to go cheer you on!!

About that picture. I think I saw that guy on TV once. It was a documentary about the evils of steroid use. One of his biceps actually exploded, and he's had to have all kinds of surgery to make it look halfway normal.

I could be mistaken though...lol

damn. I was going to ask whether one of his biceps ever involuntarily broke his arm, but I guess "exploding bicep" answers my question.

I think I'll stick to my 5- and 10-pound free weights, thanks...

Can you imagine how painful that must have been? And exploding bicep? Even doing weights can cause the ouch factor the next day, but an EXPLODING Muscle?
Bleeeee.
Speaking of steroids, a dude I know used to jab the slab when he was a muscle mary, then he got older and less into the weights and stuff, two years ago he had to have surgery to remove the two 'breasts' he developed as his chest size decreased.

Dips are my most hated of exrecises! I always leave them till last just so's if I'm too tired I can say "ehhh, feck em".
These are followed closely by rear-rows...uggghhhh!

First of all, darlings, cheers for the well wishes and second of all: Dips.

They are the devil's smegma.
RMimus, I was doing sets of 10 today, which means I got to 8 on the first set and 6 on the second, break, and the the last 4, horrible. However, I do firmly believe they area most awesome exercise, and I did all this after a bench press so I feel not so guilty.
But you have my empathy.
Do you follow cross fit?

Have to confess ignorance regarding crossfit! I follow the plan tall Dave of team Mardyke (Go team Go!) made out for me. they're a good exercise all right but I have to do mine in three sets of 10.
