Gays, faggots, homophobes and cowards.

In the middle of a furious argument with Patrick Dempsey last year Grey's Anatomy's Isaiah Washington, lost the head, peeled back his thin veneer and unleashed the not particularly hidden homophobia he suffers from. He called co-star TR Knight 'a faggot' causing the mild mannered Knight to out himself publicly and ponder why his sexuality was really any one's business.
Quite so.
In October, Washington apologized for an on-set incident and things appeared to being allowed to die down.
But on the red carpet at Golden Globes Isaiah took his foot out of his mouth long enough to belch up...
"I love gay. I wanted to be gay," he said. "Please let me be gay.'
As tediously bad as this was, he super confirmed his idiocy at a group photo call when he rushed to the microphone and said 'I didn't call him a faggot! Never happened! Never happened!' This outburst embarrassed the cast and crew and upset the
apple cart once more. TR Knight again pondered why he might say this considering every person on the set heard him utter those very words. The denial rather negates the apology.
Okay then.
So today, with his job under fire, Washington has come up with this carefully scripted contrite beauty...

"I can neither defend nor explain my behavior." Washington also says "there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I've asked for help."

Washington also said he welcomes the chance to meet with gay and lesbian community leaders "to apologize in person and to talk about what I can do to heal the wounds I've opened.

Here's a hint Isaiah, shut your yap and keep you homophobic utterings to yourself.

Naturally we have the cry of the homo hatin' fucknut, 'He shouldn't have to apologise, he didn't do nothing wrong.'
No? If the mild mannered Knight had called him a 'nigger' in the middle of an argument he would have been rebuked hard and possibly have his contract terminated.
'It's been blown outa proportion'. Maybe so, but then again maybe not. If someone in the public eyes is spanked every now and then it serves as a a reminder to the rest of us that we should maybe watch our 'p's and 'q's. If the actions of Michael 'Nigger' Richards, Mel 'Suger tits fucking jews' Gibson and Jane 'everytime she opens her gob' Goody have shown anything it is that the public in general is fed up of witlings, racist, bigots and now homophobes.
Good.

As a woman with gay friends it never ceases to amaze me that people who don't know or have never met my friends, feel they can use sweeping and often derogatory generalisations to describe them.
Isaiah Washington's verbal wanking and cringing backpeddle have delighted me because it just goes to show how barely under the surface hatred is and how quickly twats like him will try to wiggle out of trouble by pretending to be horrified by their own words. Sheet, I would have more respect for him if he stood up and said, yeah this is how I feel, so sue me.
Suck it up big fella, as Gamma used to say if you're tough enough to dish it out you gotta be tough enough to soak it up in return.
Yah boo sucks!

Who is this man and does he matter?
Why hasn't he been introduced into Celebrity Big Brother yet? He sounds ideal.

He's plays a surgeon on Greys' Anatomy, and he has caused a giant kerfuffle with his remarks, all of which it seems pales in comparison to Jane Goody's waffle. Shilpa Poppadum? The sun are now calling her 'The Face of Hate' and launching one of itc 'campaigns' against her. Really she is stupid the 'Face of Stupidity'.

I hadn't heard about this at all. I can't wait to tell Linzi that (a) that lad she fancies is gay and (b) that other lad she fancies is a homophobic arsehole.

That last bit you wrote about always makes me laugh as well. Like when yer man went on the big nigger rant and then went on Letterman afterwards looking all humble and sorry (for himself) and shit.

Why bother apologising if you're only doing it to placate people and you're not really sorry?

Exactly. Fuck it, if that's what you think say so, then we can all get on with thinking you're a racist/Bigot/Phobe/nut, but with balls enough to stand by what you say instead of whinging and throwing yourself at the public's feet. It's not like we ever believe the apology or that's it is sincere, so why bother make it?

Agreed. If you're an ass, be an ass...just be good at it.

That Patrick Dempsey is a hottie...AND he's from my home town! Where were guys like that when I was in school there?

Typical you get Patrick Dempsey and we get Colin 'the grease stain' Fart-il.
Ah what do I care, I only have eyes for Alan Rickman.

As a big fan of Grey's, I find all of this to be troubling. I mean, what the hell? It is not OK to use that kind of language.

This is why I fancy McDreamy. I have since I was in junior high and Can't Buy Me Love came out.

See they just want to be the loveable dopey sidekick that everyone loves or the hunky, got-his-shit-together doctor on the telly AND be mindless bigots too. And that's just greedy. Pick one fellas, but you can't have both.

Interestingly, while Kramer's career is now deader than the ends of Cher's hair and this Grey's Anatomy guy and the Goody bint are getting their just desserts in the media, Mel Gibson, arguably the most virulent (and expressive) bigot of the lot is doing very well thankyou. Why is that? Could it be that while in America we have quasi-embraced the ideas that racism and homophobia are bad, anti-semitism is still something we can let people get by with? Or is Mel Gibson's star just too bright? Is he just worth too much money to be seriously taken to task for being an arsehole?

Who the hell is this Jade Goody person anyway? Why is she famous? I've just Googled her but I still don't know why she's famous. Sometimes I'm glad I'm not around to see what's happening to British telly.

You raise many before dinner questions Sam, I shall endeavour to put paid to these serious queries.
Jane Goody was a lardy arsed big mouthed moron who appeared on BIg Brother many years ago and revelled in her absolute and total stupidity, eg.'Rio de janeiro? In't that a person?" And 'East Anglia, that's abroad in'it?' and 'Don't Horse Radish come from a Horse?" 'What, I"m fhick in I!'
The nation took her to their collective bossoms as they love a poor dimwit-so long as she knows her place.
Goody is now on celebrity big brother and her actual personality-ignored at time of the original- has been much advanced by the fact that she is now worth 8 Million pounds.
Now she is a thick ignorant gobby RICH yob. And the nation is about to bitch slap her back in her place. The Sun is spearheading it.

Gibson is bat shit insane, but he is also insanely wealthy and makes whatever the fuck movie he likes. People will see them becasue they're mad Ted, and he's not in them. The second he makes a romantic comedy staring himself he's dead in the water.
If he had just stuck with calling the female police officer 'Sugar tits' the nation would have loved him, as it is a well know fact that insulting women is 'AOK!" with the establishment. Why even good old Hugh Hefner said yesterday that he is 'thining the herd' of ladies he sleeps with, and every one said 'aw, ain't that cure.'
Despairs!

Sassy, Dreamy is indeed the main squeeze on that show, but where do you stand on Alan Rickman?

fmc, you hit it all so well. I guess that I (some of us?) tend to think that someone who is educated enough to be an actor (and priveliged enough to drag down boatloads of moolah) ought to have a more mature outlook in regard to the other humans that share our space. Yeah, right.

I live in a country where racial and religios harmony is heavily enforced (maybe too aggressively) and where I have many friends who are good examples of tolerant, open-minded human beings. Yet it always upsets me when I hear some of those same friends, whom I like, care about and generally respect, uttering narrow-minded and ignorant comments about homosexuality. But then when local homophobia is largely state-sponsored and laws are in place forbidding homosexual behaviour it's little wonder.
